For Bucks Open Studios 2011, Obsidian Art showcased some of the best local artists & makers - with a high quality exhibition of varied and exciting work.

Alan Kidd

Landscapes, still life & portraiture. Local Oxfordshire, Bucks & Chilterns scenes depicted in a clean, modern realistic style. Paintings in private & public collections in UK & abroad. Alan is a regular exhibitor at Obsidian. There will be an opportunity to meet Alan at the gallery on Wednesday 22nd June & Sat 25th from 2pm.

Buckinghamshire Pottery & Sculpture Society

Selected potters from The Buckinghamshire Sculpture & Pottery Society - Carol Read, Chris Inder, Jeremy White, Lesley Paton, Marion Calvert, Peter Stocker, Richard Ballantyne and Sarah Rooms-Heaphy - will be showing a wonderful range of thrown and sculpted pieces both indoor and outside in our new Courtyard Sculpture Garden.

There will be demonstrations by Jeremy White on Monday 20th June, Thursday 23rd June, Monday 27th & Thursday 30th from 10am-11.45am, and from Peter Stocker on Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th at 2pm. Richard Ballantyne will be demonstrating Raku firing Tuesday 21 June from 2pm - (weather allowing - please contact the gallery). Chris Inder will be demonstrating Decorating on Clay on Wed 22nd & Thurs 30th from 2pm. Marion Calvert will be demonstarting with clay on Fri 24 June from 2pm.

Di Oldfield

Experienced artist showing landscapes inspired by travels. A rich and varied portfolio influenced by the natural world and includes abstract work and paintings of the human form. I continue to push the boundaries of oils, exploring other media too.

Di will be available at the gallery to discuss her work on Tuesday 21st June and Thursday 30th June from 2pm.

Edward Stamp RI

Edward Stamp is an extraordinarily accomplished artist working in watercolour, oil, acrylic, & wood engraving, usually small scale Buckinghamshire landscapes painted en plein air. Edward's talents have been recognised nationally - he is an elected member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI) & the Society of Wood Engravers.

There will be an opportunity to meet Edward at gallery from 2pm on Wednesday 22 & Saturrday 25 June.

Ewa Wawrzyniak

Ewa produces stunning and beautiful sand cast glass sculpture and kiln formed glass; architectural and decorative. Wall mounted glass panels, free standing sculpture, dishes and more. Her work this year will include new free-standing fused glass in her "Summer Garden" Series.

Ewa Warzyniak is a regular exhibitor at Obsidian Art.

Ewa will be at the gallery and available to discuss her work and her techniques on Tuesday 21st and Thursday 30th June from 2pm.

Kate Watkins

An exciting, vibrant mixture of paintings and original prints; my personal responses to, and observations of, the world around me. It also includes work inspired by my travels.

Kate will be available to discuss her work at the gallery 2pm - 5pm on Wednesday 22 & Saturday 25 June.

Kirsten Jones

Kirsten produces fresh, colourful, collaged paintings and limited edition prints on themes of collected objects, the garden, shoes and still life.


Kirsten will be available to discuss her work at the gallery from 2pm on Saturday 25 June.

Exciting, unique framed pictures made from kiln formed glass, some with relief and many influenced by the energy of the sea.
